The Momenteo team asked the question and found some tips to help you increase your productivity.</p> <h3><strong> Get Enough Sleep</strong></h3> <p> This advice may seem strange, but we firmly believe that if you don't get enough sleep, you won't be as productive. Getting little sleep can work for short periods, but you can't keep this up for long. It's simple, you can't ask your brain to be at its best 24 hours a day. You need to take the time to switch off from time to time and get the hours of sleep you need. You will then be more alert and ready to get through your day. Humans are like a machine run by a battery; your work will be better if your battery is recharged each day than if it were low. As well, a healthy lifestyle can help you avoid colds or other unpleasant ailments.</p> <p> Also, don't forget <a href="https://www.momenteo.com/blog/freelance-life-how-to-set-boundaries-" target="_blank">to understand your limits.</a> You may have become self-employed to improve your quality of life, not the other way around. Don't waste your time with tasks you don't like or that eat away at your time. This will allow you to focus on what you like to do and what you're good at. For example, if managing your social media is a burden and you never know what to put on it, why not outsource that task? If you are a content manager but waste a lot of time translating your posts for an English-speaking client, why not hire a translator? It's much more motivating and rewarding to work on what you love.</p> <p> It is also possible to outsource certain tasks in your personal life. For example, if you don't have time to go to the grocery store or pharmacy, why not have your purchases delivered? As well, if you need a helping hand with your household chores, why not hire a housekeeper from time to time?</p> <h3><strong> Avoid Distractions</strong></h3> <p> If you want to be productive, it is important to avoid distractions as much as possible. It also means putting your phone aside, as well as the TV. It's a lie to say you can be as productive listening to the latest episode of your favorite TV show than if you were in a closed office. In this regard, is your work environment designed to facilitate your productivity? Do you work in a place where you have everything you need at your fingertips? Don't forget to make this place inviting so that you want to be there.</p> <p> Some people say they work better or are more creative with music. Don't hesitate to try different playlists to see if this is the case for you. In my situation, I noticed that I am more productive when I listen to music from epic movies! You could also use a timer to schedule your breaks. For example, you could work for a full hour, then have a 15-minute break afterwards to get a coffee or something to eat. Knowing that you have a break from your schedule, you will avoid frequent work stoppages. It has also been shown that the most productive people work on only one task at a time.</p> <h3><strong>Have Clear Goals</strong></h3> <p> Additionally, to avoid wasting time unnecessarily we advise having defined goals and making lists. First, try to come up with practical goals every day, every week or every month. This can be to complete different projects, translate a specific amount of words or contact 10 potential new customers. For this to work, it is advisable to choose your goals according to the SMART method: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. You have to have a little challenge to accomplish your goals, but it must be attainable. Then set a deadline and do what you can to meet your deadlines.</p> <p> If you don't know where to start, why not make a list of what you have to do? Then, determine what is most urgent and get to work. Less time will be wasted between tasks by doing this.</p> <p></p> <p> In conclusion, to answer our question at the beginning, it is not how to have more time specifically, but how to use it better.
